The time: 12th June 2012, 7:06am. Place: Somerton in Somerset, and the residance of Richard J Hillgrove VI, famous public relations maven and image maker to business leaders. Famed for its mention in the Anglo-Saxon Chronical, this former sleepy market town is once again in the chronicles 1300 years later as HM Revenue & Customs officers burst into the boudoire of Richard Hillgrove and his wife Lois, arresting both of them for ‘Being Knowingly Involved in the Evasion of VAT, Evasion of Income Tax, and Money Laundering’. The fact, later admitted by the CPS, that Mrs Hillgrove had no involvement whatsoever in the affair, yet was totally traumatised by the sudden arrest, as indeed were her elderly grandparents with whom they shared the house, seemed to have little concern for the HM Revenue & Customs, nor did the implications of the shocking events to follow…
